Fit Out Guide

Whether you’re refreshing an existing kitchen or planning a full renovation, our fit out guide is designed to be clear, calm, and well-managed. We focus on thoughtful design, careful preparation, and professional installation, keeping the experience as stress-free as possible.

Please note: Site preparation and first-fix stages apply only to existing kitchens in existing spaces. New builds and full refurbishments follow a simplified route.

  • Your journey begins with a conversation. Share any plans you have - architectural drawings, estate agent layouts, or previous kitchen plans, along with inspiration images or ideas.

We’ll arrange a video call to discuss your space, lifestyle, finishes, and the SKW approach. Material samples can be sent by post, and you’ll receive a rough guide price based on kitchen size and scope.

  • Working with our trusted CAD designer, we develop layout options, cabinet configurations, finishes, and storage solutions. This stage allows you to explore different approaches and understand how the kitchen will function day to day.

You’ll receive clear visuals and an itemised quote. A £100 design fee applies and is deducted from the final kitchen cost.

  • We carry out a technical check of plumbing, electrics, walls, and floors to ensure the design works seamlessly within the space. This allows us to finalise details before production begins.

  • Once the design is signed off, a 50% deposit is taken to secure your production slot. At this point, lead times are confirmed, typically between 6–12 weeks depending on the project and time of year.

Installation is only scheduled once all components and trades are aligned, ensuring a smooth and well-timed delivery.

  • Appliances are purchased by the client and delivered ahead of installation. Worktops are selected with guidance from SKW if required.

If new flooring is planned, it is usually best installed before the kitchen. We’ll advise on sequencing to avoid delays or conflicts on site.

  • (Existing kitchens only)

We remove the old kitchen and prepare the space,. Old units and debris are cleared, and any required trades can be scheduled.

This stage ensures the room is fully ready for installation.

  • (Existing kitchens only)

Clients organise plumbers, electricians, or plasterers for first-fix works. To keep things simple, SKW provides clear service drawings showing exact positions for all connections.

This keeps responsibility clear while maintaining control of the outcome.

  • SKW installs all cabinetry, shelving, and storage. Units are carefully levelled and prepared for worktops, and appliances are positioned ready for connection.

The remaining balance is paid just before installation is completed. This marks the completion of SKW’s core fitting service

  • Worktops are templated on site for a precise fit. Once manufactured, they are installed and final cabinet adjustments are completed.

  • Plumbing, electrics, lighting, sinks, taps, and appliances are fully connected and tested, bringing the kitchen into full working order.

  • Following installation, we remain fully available for snagging. Any final adjustments or refinements are completed efficiently, ensuring everything is finished properly.

We’re here long after handover — whether you need advice, an adjustment, or an additional element in the future.
